It's dull and rainy out. Kelly was cute trying to go to the restroom and trying to duck away from the rain. I'm excited about going to Columbia then KC this weekend. :)

Be nice

Lately I've been helping other stylists by shampooing their clients and it's really interesting how their clients treat me. It isn't uncommon, in a high end salon, to have your stylist only cut or color while an assistant shampoos and styles. It's weird that some clients are really sweet to their stylist, then treat me like a peon when I shampoo em. And I realize I don't have a history with them, but some people just get this look.

So if you get shampooed or stylist by someone other then your stylist, be kind. Or you'll find yourself with a cold shampoo!! LOL

Great day

It's the first GREAT day since the horrible bitter winter. The weather is upper 50's, slight breeze and scattered clouds. Lots of sunlight that I'm trying to soak up at every chance I get. It's one of those days that makes you appreciate life and how wonderful it is.

im a lil disgruntled cause i asked my salon owner today i we could play the inauguration today over the salon speakers so we could hear the historic speech, but he said no cause he didnt want to offend any republican clients... then he turns on christian gosspil music over the salon speakers... wouldn't that offend people who arent religious?...

i decided to go to the 4-Day training... itll only cost me all-in-all $900. its still sassoon, but i think once i take this one, ill try to take the more advanced one in 6 months which is about the same price.... so itll be cheaper and less time missed from work... plus less money

tonight at the salon we closed early and had a salon event. we did each others hair!!!! it was so much fun. i wanted to go super dark, like a level 4 (darkest brown before black), but it turned out about a level 6. oh well... i like it... here are pics....

investing in myself

my grandparents opened a mutual fund for all the kids when we got of age. the original intent was to use the money as a down payment on a house. then i decided to just save it for retirement. but NOW im thinking about going to a vidal sassoon course in LA. its 4 weeks long!!!! and its the harvard of hair schools. mom told me to do a lot of research on other programs i could go to. so far, most (if not all) of the other places i checked were weekend type classes. i think those would be really good, but 4-weeks of pure learning vs a weekend class. plus those other classes seem to be more "modern cutting" stuff... ie, crazy texture and innovative ways to cut hair that're not necessarily good for everyday use.

The 1 thing im most nervous about is the price tag.... $3,950! that doesnt include living, food, travel, etc. but i could use the mutual fund money to fund all this.

so do i use the money to invest in my retirement or invest in my career? live easy down the road, or become a great hairdresser fast? both options are good.

consolidated

i consolidated all (2) of my credit cards. so now i have 1 credit card to pay. but its a big one. $1600!!! ack! how did i accumulate all that debt? i rly need a part time job to finish paying off this loan... plus my car loan..... plus my student loan......

workout plan

i went to the store to get my pilates but they didnt have the one i wanted, so i got some random one. its pretty nice, although i have no idea what to compare it to. my muscles were a tiny bit sore, but i kinda liked all the stretching. ive never been very flexible, so maybe this will help.

my plan is to workout everyday. plan on doing it in the morning before work, or afterwork if i need to get up early. i also need to run somewhere in that time. its just so cold outside i hate it. i hate layering up and running where the snot freezes to my face. hate hate hate. if theres anything i hate the most in my life its cold weather. so idk what i should do about that. i could pay $35 a month to go to the YMCA, but i feel like thats a lot to just use he treedmills. 

ill try and post a before shot of this years working out and do a few random progressive shots. ^_^

so i got my check today and it was more then i expected. so that was nice. i checked out the paper that we get dividing out our taxes and tips and i noticed i got a random $55. so i asked nic where it came from and he said it was my tips, but then i had a tip check for $80. we were both confused. why did i get $55 for a tip in my commission check and a tip check?!

he said to go ahead and deposit it and he'll figure it out and take it out of my next check if need be. :(

but i feel like i did the right thing in bringing it up. i would've LOVED that lil extra $55, but i feel better in knowing i did the right thing.

lots to say

israel - so ive been listening to the bbc news a lot and hearing a lot of gaza, hamas and israel. so to my understanding, hamas is a political party who controls gaza (like the democrates control the us right now). the fighting between the 2 is weird. i guess in 2005 israel owned the gaza strip, but the palastines got it and've held it sincce then... here was a cease fire that lasted until israel found hamas soldiers digging a tunnel to israel... now theres much fighting. so who's side do you take? israel's whos fighting to get land back? or gaza, whos fighting to keep their land. but whos land is it? i cant pick a side. they're both equally wrong. my vote is give it to the people who have no religious ties to the land. then no one can fight over it, and both religions can have equal visitation rights....

hot weather - i love it. its the sorce of my good moods. i can tell when im having a bad day cause its cold and cloudy out. idk how to overcome this. it seems it be bigger then me. what is it about the good weather that controls my mood? idk

express cloths - i bought a nice pair of pants with the money my parents gave me a couple mnonths back to get good work cloths. well i found out the other day that i have 4 holes in the crotch area... .like it looked like 4 rabid squirrels ran up my pant leg scratching for nuts. lol, sorry i just had to... so i took the pants back and they didnt have the exact size, so they said i could do an exchange. so i found a same style and size, just in black... then they tell me i have to pay $50 cause theres a difference in price -_- whatev...

chili - i made this chili by myself for the first time. its a great recipe. we made it for thanksgiving and it turned out good. well i made it myself last night and something was wrong. i just cant put my finger on it. was it too much garlic? the wrong chili powder pack? idk what else it would be. joel loves it, but i think somethings different.
